Taiwan Cinefest Full Schedule Line Up for April 15th Launch

The London Taiwan Cinefest has announced the full film line up for the 2009 edition to be held in central London commencing on April 15th through to April 19th.The six feature films head lining the festival include “Parking”, which premiered in Cannes Un Certain Regard section, steamy romance “My So-Called Love”, box office smash “Cape No 7”, multi-award winner “The Most Distant Course”, off-beat comedy “What on Earth Have I Done?!” and teen heart-throb drama “Winds of September”. Joining the film line-up will also be classic documentaries “Taipei Bohemians” tracking the lives of several struggling Taipei artists and “Jump Boys!” a popular favorite investigating the lives of five and six year old athletes in Taiwan.

Additionally, on Friday April 17th the festival will unveil 10 short film UK premieres at the inaugural Young Taiwanese Filmmaker Showcase.

“Parking” will be screened at the Coronet Cinema in Notting Hill with the remaining feature films being screened at Westbourne Studios.

Cinefest celebrates 2009 with Website launch

The Taiwan Cinefest London team has announced the launch of the film festival’s 2009 website ahead of the festival’s opening on April 15th. The new and improved website www.taiwancinefest.com, will enable advance ticket bookings for paid screenings, festival programming information and video feeds of director and actor interviews. There will also be links to the official festival blog and other related social networking sites.

The site will go live to the public on January 12th 2009.

One of the largest Taiwanese film festivals held in London in recent years, the Cinefest will screen over 12 feature films, 2 documentaries and 6 short films during its five day run. Additionally, there will be an opening and closing VIP party, networking event and supplemental filmmaker panel discussions. The festival will open on Wednesday April 15th and closing on Sunday April 19th.

The Taiwan Cinefest is an independent non-profit organization with a voluntary organizing team made up of practitioners from the entertainment industry, academia and advertising who share an interest in Taiwanese cinema and film industry.

For interested filmmakers, open submissions to the festival will close on February 28th 2009.

Full festival schedule will be announced on March 4th with tickets going on sale to the general public mid-March.

New Taiwan Film Festival Announced for London in 2009

London, UK – The organising team of the Taiwan Cinefest announced today the launch of London’s newest, and one of the most ambitious, Taiwanese film festivals in recent years. The festival has been scheduled to take place for 5 days in April 2009 in an attempt to raise the profile of Taiwanese film among British and international audiences. There will be a full line up of theatrical premieres, feature showcases, documentaries and an innovative program showcase for young and first time Taiwanese film makers.

The festival will kick off with gala launch party expected to attract a mixture of stars, filmmakers and various members and supporters of the Asian screen industry. Additionally, over the 5 days there will be cross cultural networking opportunities and Taiwan film industry panel discussions.

The TaiwanCinefest is a non-profit, independent organisation with a volunteer organising team made up of practitioners from the entertainment industry, academia and other London based creative enterprises.

Film submissions to the festival will be open from 15th December 2008 and close on February 28th 2009.

Tickets will go on sale to the public in February 2009.
