Mong Hong Chung's, Parking, starring Taiwanese heart throb Chang Chen, has been announced as the opening film for the 1st edition of the Taiwan Cinefest on April 15th, 2009.

This month the Taiwan Cinfest announced the launch of the Friends of the Festival programme for a selection of university based cultural, academic and film orientated societies. Membership to the Friends of the Festival programme entitles each person to guaranteed seating and a special discount off the adult or student prices respectively.

Since submissions opened the festival has recieved a number of short and feature length entries from young and established Taiwanese film directors based not just in Taiwan but also in the US, Hong Kong and in the UK.
